The Montavilla Jazz Festival (MJF) is pleased to announce that Stark Street Pizza Company is a festival sponsor of the 2015 festival. We recently spoke with Stark Street Pizza’s office manager, Tina Test, about the restaurant, the Montavilla neighborhood, and MJF. This is what we learned:
This summer, Stark Street Pizza Company celebrates its 50th anniversary. Even more remarkable than the milestone itself is the fact that the restaurant has had the same owners for all fifty of those years. It’s doubtful that any Montavilla resident is unfamiliar with the iconic pizza parlor located on Stark Street just west of I-205.
Office manager, Tina Test, has spent her entire life in Montavilla. She recalls visiting Dickson’s Drugs with her mom — and getting change to spend on candy there; and getting school uniforms at Montavilla Department Store. Tina loves the sense of community in Montavilla and is excited to see the revitalization that is happening throughout the neighborhood. She enjoys Mount Tabor and the walk-ability of the area.
Tina sees the jazz festival as a great way to bring the community together. Her love of music old and new, from Joan Jett to Jason Mraz (and many others), also plays a part in her decision to support the jazz festival (she’s supported us every year).
Start Street Pizza’s proximity to this year’s jazz festival makes it an ideal spot to visit for refreshment in between sets.
