Saturday, August 31st, 2024, 12:00PM – SoundsTruckNW @ the Montavilla Plaza – FREE
A musical dedication to Oregon’s great rivers, the importance of abundant fish migration, and protecting nature by giving land back.
Tasting notes: flowing, inspiring, diverse, panoramic
Ross Garlow is a bassist, composer, and educator in Portland, Oregon. Originally a Pennsylvania native, Ross studied jazz bass at Temple University and Rutgers University. After grad school, Ross’s first gig that took him away from Philadelphia was working as a music director on cruise ships for nearly 4 years. Ross visited over 50 countries and led over 100 musicians from all over the world. Over time, Ross desired to live on land again. Ross’s interests outside of music have always been outdoor activities like surfing to backcountry snowboarding, but his greatest passion is rafting rivers and fishing for large migratory fish like salmon and steelhead. Portland was the perfect place for Ross to pursue his outdoor passions as well as continue his career as a thriving musician. Since landing in Portland in 2018, Ross has poured his soul into all that Oregon has to offer and collaborates with many of Portland’s greatest musicians.
