Inaugural Montavilla Jazz Festival at Post5 Theatre on August 16–17 to Showcase the Sound of Portland’s Vibrant New Jazz Scene

This two-day music festival focuses entirely on the new sound of Portland jazz. It features a diverse lineup of 13 cutting-edge, adventurous Portland-based jazz acts performing only original music at Post5 Theatre. The event is presented by the Montavilla Neighborhood Association and curated by the Portland Jazz Composers’ Ensemble.

Headlining the festival are Blue Cranes on Saturday and the David Friesen Circle 3 Trio with Greg Goebel and Charlie Doggett on Sunday. Other performances showcase Portland’s best: George Colligan’s Theoretical Planets; Tim Willcox’s Superjazzers; Portland Jazz Composers’ Ensemble Core Sextet, featuring Darrell Grant; Alan Jones and the Cavemen; Ryan Meagher; the Rich Halley 4; Trio Flux; Kerry Politzer Group; Thomas Barber’s Spiral Road; Optic Nerve Trio; and the Blake Lyman Quintet. All times to be announced.
