Nicole Glover brings her trio to her hometown for the first time to perform selections from their latest release Plays.

Saxophonist Nicole Glover is based in New York City and has established herself as a rising star in great demand. Nicole is a member of Christian McBride’s newest quintet, “Ursa Major,” and is an integral member of the supergroup ARTEMIS, led by Renee Rosnes. ARTEMIS released their 2nd recording, “In Real Time,” on Blue Note Records and were elected “Best Jazz Group” by the 2023 Downbeat Reader’s Poll. She has worked with drummers Al Foster, Victor Lewis, Lenny White, and Kenny Washington, Grammy-winning vocalists Dee Dee Bridgewater and Buika, trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, bassists Harish Raghavan, Reggie Workman, and Ben Wolfe, saxophonist Rudresh Manhanthappa, vibraphonist Joel Ross, and pianists Geoffrey Keezer, Luis Perdomo, and George Colligan, among others. Nicole’s latest Savant release Plays, featuring her regular trio of bassist Tyrone Allen and drummer Kayvon Gordon plus vibraphone master Steve Nelson, received 4.5 stars in Downbeat, and was called “The State of the Tenor Circa 2024.”

Tyronne Allen
Born and raised in Temple Hills, MD, Tyrone Allen II is internationally recognized as an exceptional upright and electric bassist. Taking instruction from his father who taught in DC public schools, Tyrone developed an ear for music early on. He studied Jazz and Classical music at Eastman School of Music under Jeff Campbell and James VanDemark, then went on to attend the Berklee College of Music to receive a Masters of Music from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. Tyrone now resides in Brooklyn, NY, and is making an impact on the NYC music scene across genres. Some notables he’s played with include the late, great Ralph Peterson, Terri-Lynne Carrington, Gerald Clayton, George Garzone, Jazzmeia Horn, and Jerry Bergonzi. Most recently Tyrone has been performing and recording with Grammy Award winner Sullivan Fortner, and playing on the Tony Award-winning Broadway show Moulin Rouge.
Kayvon Gordon
Kayvon Gordon was born and raised in Detroit. At a young age, he was taken under the mentorship of legendary trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. Later, he went on to study at the University of Michigan. Gordon has performed In Europe, Africa, South Asia, The United Arab Emirates, and North America. He has also had the honor of sharing the stage with Sullivan Fortner, Robert Hurst, Rodney Whitaker, Johnny O’Neal, Ravi Coltrane, and JD Allen, to name a few. Currently based in New York, Kayvon Gordon seeks to contribute to the forward thinking aesthetic of his contemporaries while honoring the rich musical legacy of Detroit.
