The Montavilla Jazz Festival (MJF) is pleased to announce that Montavilla Sewing Centers is a concert sponsor of the 2015 festival. We recently spoke with Montavilla Sewing Centers’ Chris Glaab about the business, the Montavilla neighborhood, and MJF. This is what we learned:
Montavilla Sewings Centers is one of the largest sewing machine sales and repair businesses in the United States. It consistently rates as a top 5 dealer for all major brands. The business opened its doors right here in Montavilla in 1949 and has been owned by the same family the entire time (the business was started by the current owner’s grandfather).
You can’t own a business for several decades without developing a loyal customer base and a reputation. Montavilla Sewing Centers has done both, welcoming customers both old and new as though they were family or friends. The customer service at Montavilla Sewing Centers is second to none. They are wizards at troubleshooting sewing machine problems.
Manager Chris Glaab loves the fact that Montavilla is home to great new businesses, while older businesses continue to remain relevant and to thrive.
Chris says that the Montavilla Sewing Centers support MJF because they want to support the community. It doesn’t hurt that Chris loves jazz (he studied saxophone privately and at Cal State Northridge; and lists The Bad Plus and Billie Holliday among his favorite musicians).
