UNCLE DEAN

AUNT FAYE
June was crazy. That simpleton didn’t know the difference.

UNCLE DEAN
No one asked you, Faye. Where the food at? Wait here.

AUNT FAYE
Ain’t nobody found your daddy, girl. He’s been gone for 12 years. Think he’s seen one clue and become infatuated with Bigfoot. Now he got all the Bigfoot crazies coming around trying to find the June Wayne trail. He’s famous, you know? 

ORI
Yep. I know. 

AUNT FAYE
Famous for being stupid. 

ORI
Huh. I haven’t heard that before.

AUNT FAYE
You go out there, you gonna wind up like your daddy.

UNCLE DEAN
Shh shh shhh. Don’t be planting that nonsense in that girl’s head. She grown. Let her make her own decisions. Here’s some stuff your dad left.

ORI
No kalimba?

UNCLE DEAN
No, ain’t no one seen it since the day he left for his last hike. One other thing. Your dad, he said the only time he ever saw it was when he played music. He said he likes jazz. 

ORI
Jazz? 

UNCLE DEAN
Yeah, bizarre. He said Bigfoot likes jazz. I never told anyone that because you know what message that would send.

ORI
Yeah, I know. 

AUNT FAYE
Tell your dad I said hey.

ORI

ORI
My dad’s trail. Randomly. Let’s see. Who knows what we have in store for us. I’m out here on the trail. Looking for Bigfoot, Dad. Because you got me out here looking for Bigfoot. I feel crazy. I don’t know if it’s even something I believe in but I’m out here.

ORI
Did you believe in Bigfoot? I don’t know. I don’t know.

ORI
The birds chirping. Is that you giving me a sign? *LAUGHTER*

ORI
Yeah. I don’t know. But I’m with you, Dad. I’m with you. I don’t know. I want to seet this thing.

LOST MAN

LOST MAN
What are you doing?

ORI
Documenting. What is your name? 

LOST MAN
Now? Are you serious? Look at me. I need to get home. 

ORI
Where did you get that kalimba? 

LOST MAN
Are you even listening to me?

Just answer the questions and I’ll get you home. 

LOST MAN
My name is Tavares Murray. I found this about two miles back.

ORI
June Wayne. 

LOST MAN
What?

ORI
Nothing. take me to where you found this. 

LOST MAN
Look, um…what’s your name?

ORI
Ori.

LOST MAN
Look, Ori. I’m trying to go home. I haven’t seen anybody or anything on this trail for days, including Bigfoot. 

ORI
This isn’t about Bigfoot. This is about my dad. 

LOST MAN
Who’s your dad? 

ORI
June Wayne.

LOST MAN
What?

ORI
Yeah.

LOST MAN
June Wayne is your dad?

ORI
Yeah. Now, can you please tell me where you found this? 

LOST MAN
This is wild. I’m standing here with June Wayne’s daughter. I saw that picture he took. He’s the reason I started believing in Bigfoot. 

ORI
Some say he’s crazy. 

LOST MAN
Those people don’t get it. Let’s go this way.
