Latin Grammy-nominated Jasnam Daya Singh braids the traditions of jazz, classical, and traditional Brazilian music into a universal jazz language.

Latin GRAMMY nominee Jasnam Daya Singh is a pianist and composer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Upon graduating from college in Brazil he moved to Los Angeles in 1987. Daya Singh has participated as a pianist and bandleader in Jazz festivals and concerts all over the world, including Brazil, Mexico, the United States, France, Belgium, Japan, China, South Korea, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Czech Republic.

Some of his commissions as a composer include “Children of the Wind,” in 1997 and “Songs and Dances,” in 2007 by Hidden Valley Music Seminars, “Que bons ventos te trazem,” by the Vento Trio, Jazz Concertino for Piano and String Orchestra, commissioned by the Carmel Bach Festival. In 2021 he composed the music to accompany Darius Wallace’s text, “My Words Are My Sword” and it was performed by the Portland Chamber Orchestra. Daya Singh has lived in Vancouver, Washington since 2008 and works extensively as a composer and pianist.
