MAE.SUN’s original sound explores cosmic worlds, guided by a deep spiritual pulse that invites inner reflection and expansion.

MAE.SUN (aka Hailey Niswanger), leader, composer, saxophone, flute, and vocals; Nikara Warren, vibraphone; Charlie Brown III, keyboards; Peter Knudsen, guitar; Sam Arnold, bass; Cory Limuaco, drums.
Vibe: cosmic, enchanting, mindful, soulful, eclectic, immersive, psychedelic, healing, spiritual, transformative

MAE.SUN is a genre-blending multi-instrumentalist known for her cosmic jazz sound. A Berklee alum recognized as a Rising Star in the DownBeat Critics Poll for 11 years, she’s toured globally with esperanza spalding, Harvey Mason, and indie pop artist Clairo. She has released eight albums as Hailey Niswanger, MAE.SUN, and with her duo OHMA, and recorded on Grammy-winning albums with Beyoncé and Terri Lyne Carrington. From Portland, MAE.SUN creates sonic worlds rooted in healing and spiritual depth.

Vibraphonist, composer, and educator Nikara Warren brings fearless musicality and a genre-defying sound rooted in Brooklyn’s cultural richness. A granddaughter of jazz legend Kenny Barron, Warren fuses jazz, hip-hop, neo-soul, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms into an unmistakable voice. Her latest album, The Queen of Kings County (Switch Hit Records, 2024), was created with support from the NYFA Women’s Fund for Music. A follow-up to her acclaimed debut, Black Wall Street, this new release is a love letter to Brooklyn—blending feel-good melodies, improvisation, and electronic textures into an exploration of heritage, resilience, and Black American Music.
