PJCE with Jasnam Daya Singh

Scenes

Jasnam Daya Singh (most recently known as Weber Iago) has developed a style that unites classical, jazz, and Brazilian music. Singh (under the name Weber Drummond) recorded two CDs with Brazilian guitar great Romero Lubambo. He has been nominated for a Latin Grammy.

The Portland Jazz Composers’ Ensemble (PJCE) commissions and performs original works by its members and other local jazz composers. The PJCE has received support from the Oregon Community Foundation, the Regional Arts and Culture Council, and the Oregon Arts Commission.

Singh had this to say about the commission he received from the PJCE: “I want, with this piece, to bring to the forefront the beauty that exists in being connected to all.”
