Eugene-based Joe Manis is a tenor saxophonist heralded as being a standout in the Coltrane/Rollins tradition. No stranger to the Montavilla Jazz Festival, Manis was featured as part of George Colligan’s Theoretical Planets in the 2014 festival. Montavilla Jazz Festival 2015 is proud to serve as the venue for the release of Manis’s new album on the venerated Danish label Steeplechase Records. The album features heartfelt originals, jazz standards, and some popular music from Manis’s youth.
